Leadership and Adminstration

Pastor, Jim Harmeling

Dr. Jim Harmeling was born in Texas and grew up in Michigan, but has spent most of his life in Southern California. He has pastored churches in California and Tennessee for the past twenty years. He has degrees from Wheaton College, Talbot School of Theology, The Master’s Seminary and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ph.D.). He is married to Jacqui and they have five children ages 13-23. Pastor Jim loves to teach people God’s Word and see them grow to maturity in the faith. He loves to see the local church functioning with vibrancy and purity. He is a teaching pastor who typically instructs the congregation in the Bible by means of a verse by verse exposition. For recreation, he enjoys reading, spending time with his family, and participating in various sports, especially basketball and hockey.

Ben Myers - Associate Pastor of Discipleship

Ben Myers was born in Pennsylvania, but grew up in Tennessee. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University and served as a Tennessee State Park Ranger. He has spent the last several years in Southern California, where he’s been studying for his Master’s degree at The Master’s Seminary.  In that time, he’s primarily served in youth and children’s ministries.  Ben has been married to Jennifer for 11 years, and the Lord has blessed them with three beautiful young daughters: Ceana, Ally, and Edyn. Ben has a deep commitment to God’s Word, and loves to see it impact the lives of God’s people. His favorite way to spend his free time is with his family, although he also enjoys mountain biking and running.

Ryan Casile - Associate Pastor of Youth

Ryan Casile was born in New York but was raised in North Carolina from the age of six. Prior to a calling to ministry, Ryan served as a United States Marine and a SWAT Operator for the Garner Police Department. Ryan and his wife Carla have been involved in youth ministry at Southside Church since 2009. Ryan and Carla have three children: Cody, Cheyenne, and Jason. Ryan has a passion for discipleship and seeing people grow in their understanding of God’s word. In his free time, Ryan enjoys quiet time at home with his family and the great outdoors.

Marlene Markley

Marlene M. Markley came to Southside Church from San Jose, California in March of 2005. She currently serves as administrative assistant to Pastor James Harmeling. Prior to coming to Southside, she worked for Los Gatos Christian Church (now Venture Christian Church) for two years as office manager and executive assistant to the senior pastor. Prior to coming to Los Gatos Christian Church she served as lead custom software trainer for MainStreet, Networks for six years. Marlene graduated (cum laude) from Meredith College, Raleigh, NC in 1992. She is married and has two grown children, three grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
